
The village of Jalovik Izvor was once again the host this summer on the 24th. according to the order of the Assembly on Panadzur. Under the auspices of the municipality of Knjaževac, the Parliament was organized by the Tourist Organization of Knjaževac.
Velikogospojini Festival of Guardians of Intangible Cultural Heritage gathered under Stara Planina those who left these parts a long time ago, their descendants. As the President of the Municipality, Milan Đokić, emphasized, hundreds of inhabitants lived in the once large village.
“There are few people left to live in Jalovik Izvor. That is why some question whether investments in villages are justified. We will invest in villages, in the reconstruction of road infrastructure, in the reconstruction of homes, in water supply systems, so that life will survive and people will understand that nowhere is like in their native region,” Đokić said.
Almost a quarter of a century ago, this festival of folk art was started by Žika Radenković. Today, old and sick, the Association of Pop Artists and Performers of Serbia, for his tireless work on promoting original musical values, awarded him a lifetime achievement award. Singers and musicians from Knjaževac, Svrljig, and Varna in Bulgaria took part in this year’s parliamentary program.
