At the foot of Stara Planina, 15 kilometers southeast of Knja\u017eevac, in the village of Donja Kamenica, on the left bank of the Trgovi\u0161ki Timok, an unknown landowner built the Church of the Holy Mother of God at the beginning of the 14th century.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Today, it is a cultural asset of Serbia and the most valuable monument of the Diocese of Timok. The church was built in the Moravian-Byzantine style with elements of Romanesque architecture. Some of the frescoes are unique in Serbian medieval painting. A special treasure of the Church of the Mother of God are the founder\u00b4s compositions and portraits of lords with rich details in showing their clothes. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Also important are the cycles from the life of Holy Friday in the south and north towers, but also the frescoes: “The Last Supper”, “The Assumption of the Mother of God”, “The Annunciation” and the embraced holy warriors Theodore Tyrone and Theodore Stratilatus on horses.<\/p>\n\n<\/div><\/div>
