In the city center of the city is the Old Town trade – craft center “Old Town Bazaar”, which is the most distinctive part of Knja\u017eevac. The old bazaar consists of an upper row of buildings dating from the period of Turkish rule and a lower row that was created after the liberation. The buildings of the upper row were with older craft shops, while the buildings of the lower row had shops on the ground floor and living space on the first floor. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Many who passed by talk about the idyllic life in a small town in Eastern Serbia, mantioning the Old Town Bazaar with special admiration. In 1910. traveling to the east, the famous architect Le Corbusier visited Knja\u017eevac. Inspired by the picturesque of the streets and the architecture of the city, he made a drawing of Knja\u017eevac in the Van Gogh technique. This precious document is kept in the National Museum in Belgrade.<\/p>\n\n<\/div><\/div>
